Atavistic and Word #12
OK, that wasn't even fair. No obvious root word in it (I just looked it up - it is Latin atavus, meaning ancestor - who knew?). Anyway, it means throwback, as in a physical characteristic, like if a baby is born with a tail.
BTW, you all are very brave to respond in print when the word is so impossible!
New words - same root, so I thought two related words would be fun and would increase the likelihood of decoding them.
anthropo-morph-ize and meta-morph-osis

Just b/c we didn't know the last word doesn't mean you need to go and insult us now.
Mom: Yesterday's word was hard? Here, how about cat. C. A. T. No? Still too hard? No. N. O. EN OH. No.
anthropomorphize - to give something non-human human characteristics.
Hope anthropomorphizes her dogs. Unfortunately for everyone else, she is right, animals DO have feelings.
Metamorphosis - to transform
The ugly fat caterpillar hit puberty, lost his baby fat and metamorphized into a beautiful butterfly.

Well, Hope - you did it again! I kept having issues with the site yesterday - so I couldn't answer!
So, since we know you already got the definitions - I'll do sentences.
Madelyn often anthropomorphizes her dolls, often trying to discuss her daily activities with them.
*I love the Hungry Caterpillar!*
It's amazing how technology has metamorphized from room-sized computers to those that fit in the palm of your hand.
